This upper-level remodel in Edina seamlessly blends practicality and style. The home was originally remodeled by MA Peterson Design Build 15 years prior for the previous owner. This offered a unique opportunity for the firm to reimagine the space with intimate knowledge of its structure and history. The primary objective? Create a spacious, functional walk-in closet in the primary suite where the client, an avid collector of vintage designer pieces and shoes, could display her prized possessions.
The challenge arose from the existing layout, which couldn’t accommodate the homeowners’ desired closet space. To address this, the design team made a bold, yet strategic move—relocating the primary suite to a different corner of the upper level. This reconfiguration not only allowed for the addition of a luxurious walk-in closet but also enhanced the flow and functionality of the entire suite.
Throughout the project, MA Peterson collaborated with interior designer Wendy Boyer of Brown Cow Design, ensuring the project maintained a refined, yet personalized aesthetic. Known for her ability to build strong client relationships, Boyer prioritized the homeowners’ vision in every design detail.
The project also came with a joyful twist. Just as the design phase was wrapping up, the homeowners shared a surprise—they were expecting a baby. So, the team adhered to a nine-month timeline, delivering a completed renovation just in time for the family’s new arrival.
Beyond the aesthetic and functional success of this project, the most rewarding aspect, according to the MA Peterson team, was the opportunity to revisit and evolve a past design. Overall, the experience served as a great reminder that homes—and the home industry—are always evolving, a mindset MA Peterson embraces in every project.
