At TreHus, we believe every job is the most important job in the world. That belief shapes how we listen, how we build, and how we care for the home and the people who live there.
Of all the spaces we design and build, kitchen remodels hold a special place. It is the heart of the home, where daily rhythms, family rituals, and the story of how a home is loved unfold. Our goal at TreHus is not to mimic the past or impose the new, but to find balance. To create harmony between architecture and aesthetics, preservation and progress, function and beauty. When done with care, a kitchen should feel as though it has always been a part of the home.

Returning to the Home’s Language
In Historical on Grand, a 1900 St. Paul home, years of piecemeal changes had disrupted both structure and flow. To reconnect the space, TreHus expanded the kitchen, which was previously the size of a closet, to accommodate a family of seven. New cabinetry was carefully matched to the tone and grain of the original millwork. A curved coffered ceiling echoed nearby arches, anchoring the kitchen in the home’s architectural language. The result feels intentional and grounded, like it was always meant to be there.
Connecting Without Disrupting
In French Country Elegance, the challenge for TreHus was to expand and modernize the kitchen of a Golden Valley home while maintaining its charm. A new arched opening mirrored an existing one, creating a visual rhythm between the kitchen and dining room. Egg-and-dart crown molding was restored, while handcrafted tile, a soft-tone range, and unlacquered brass accents added depth and warmth. Each decision, from layout to finish, honored and connected to the home’s spirit.
Color, Character, and Continuity
Within a historic Minneapolis home, the Blush Pink Isles Kitchen was relocated to enhance flow and functionality. TreHus drew from traditional European interiors, pairing bold colors with timeless finishes. Blush-painted wainscoting, patterned wallpaper, and an antique mirror backsplash layered personality over preserved historic details. A white enameled Aga range, quartzite counters, and aged brass fixtures grounded the space in elegance and durability. The result is a home where color and character blend in continuity, where old and new are in conversation.
What ties these projects together is not a style, but a principle. At TreHus, we design spaces that feel cohesive with the homes they are in and the lives lived within them. That may mean restoring old trim, thoughtfully introducing color, or crafting cabinetry that bridges time.
As a full-service design-build firm, TreHus guides each project from concept to completion with in-house architects, interior designers, project managers, and carpenters. Our work spans kitchen and bath remodels, interior updates, historic restorations, exterior remodels, additions, whole house renovations, and custom homes. Every project is shaped by listening, care, and a shared commitment to intentional design and lasting beauty.
If you are considering a home project, TreHus invites you to begin with a conversation. We would be honored to learn about your home.
