Formerly a schoolhouse—revived from the ashes of a devastating fire—this historic Golden Valley home has seen many remodels over the years. Some of these projects have been more cohesive than others. When the current homeowners decided to renovate the kitchen, dining room, mudroom, and entry, their main goal was to create a flowing, functional space that honored the rich woodwork and handcrafted details they already loved. Inspired by the look of a celebrity ranch, the remodel blends reclaimed wood beams, plum-tone feature walls, and a hearth-style prep alcove to bring warmth, harmony, and purpose to the heart of the home.
At Sawhill Custom Kitchen and Design, the remodeling process begins with listening. The team carefully studied the homeowners’ lifestyle and intended usage of the existing space, then presented multiple layouts to ensure every decision aligned with both vision and budget. From cabinetry and countertops to finishes and fixtures, each choice was a collaborative one. With a designer and project manager working in tandem, the result is a seamless renovation—one that balances character, function, and timeless design.
