Year Built: 1928
The kitchen and bathroom inside this home date all the way back to 1928, accumulating myriad issues through the years. It was cramped, divided, dysfunctional, and outdated, and the homeowners wanted a revamped space where they could cook, work, play, and study together, plus have improved natural and supplemental lighting. The once cramped space was opened up by moving the sink and stove and adding a spacious center island—providing ample counter space and storage options. The countertops have hand-drawn edges that give the kitchen a unique and sophisticated personality, while a long, horizontal window lets in some extra light to illuminate them. A floating bench by the door offers even more storage as well as a convenient spot for tucking away shoes and belongings.
