Danelle Erickson of Danelle Marie Calligraphy has mastered the majesty of making words look magical with her custom calligraphy services, where the North Pole is the limit for clients dreaming of table tents for a holiday soiree, gift tags with a sentimental twist, or holiday cards that look like they’ve been penned by Santa himself. In this Q&A, we get the scoop on how Erickson turns simple strokes into stunning script.
Walk us through your calligraphy process.
Most projects come down to style, paper, and ink. A client might already have their cards and envelopes, and would like the address style and ink to coordinate with the cards. Other clients might be starting from scratch and be open to ideas.
For more custom pieces, there are other things to consider, such as size, colors, and text layout and style. After an initial conversation, I might present the client with a few layouts or rough sketches to make sure our visions are aligned before penning the final work.
What’s so special about hand-addressed holiday cards or custom gift tags?
Think about how excited we are when we get something in the mail that isn’t a bill or junk mail. Now, imagine your name and address are also beautifully written, and that excitement jumps another notch. The same can be said for a special gift tag.
How can table tents or place cards elevate holiday tablescapes?
Place cards are practical and can help alleviate any awkward “who is sitting where” moments, and they also show your guests you’ve put some extra thought into your time together.
Why should homeowners invest in your custom calligraphy services?
Life is so often fast-paced, especially around the holiday season. But when someone sees their name written with extra care, they are likely going to pause for a moment and appreciate the effort that went into that envelope or gift tag. And what could be better than making those we care about feel extra special this holiday season?
