The art of entertaining is all about setting the scene, and few spaces capture that quite like an old-world wine room. Whether hosting a tasting, savoring a prized vintage, or simply enjoying a nightcap at the end of a long week, these spaces offer an unbeatable ambience no matter the occasion.
A Taste of Luxury
What was once a small in-home gym was transformed by Custom One Renovation into a sophisticated wine cellar, perfect for collectors and connoisseurs alike. Designed to maximize both function and elegance, the space boasts custom cabinetry for displaying wine bottles, an LED-backlit granite table for tastings and gatherings, and a custom arched wine door that keeps temperatures steady within. Rustic elements like a rough-edge countertop, stone web wall, and brick-style herringbone tiles add to the classic old-world charm.
Wines & Vines
This Denmark Township wine room—crafted by Michels Homes, Alexander Design Group, and Talla Skogmo Interior Design—was thoughtfully designed to spotlight a vine salvaged from one of the homeowner’s favorite vineyards. A custom lighting design mimics the illumination of a starlit sky, casting a warm glow over the client’s extensive wine collection, while the tumbled Tupelo limestone barreled ceiling and floor evoke the timeless feel of a late-century wine cellar.
A Refined Palate

Tucked behind glass and steel doors on the lower level of a White Bear Lake residence, this tequila and wine room—carved into a large stone structure—offers a grotto-like retreat. A collaborative effort between PLAAD LLC and BCD Homes, the intimate space balances rugged elegance with modern elements. Taking center stage is the client’s collection of rare and bespoke bottles, displayed in custom-lit steel boxes of various sizes recessed into the stone walls. The design creates a striking interplay of texture and light, transforming the room into a space worthy of even the most refined palates.
