The transformation of a cottage-style residence into a 4,860-square-foot modern Minnesota lake home is a showstopper that is seamlessly integrated with its natural environment.
The light-filled permanent residence was expanded with the addition of a second story that maximizes sight lines and expands lake views, and also abounds with multigenerational accommodations—areas for grown children, grandchildren, and a private primary suite are in the addition, as well as a home office and indoor golf simulator.
The reimagining of the lower level includes a lounge and new bunk room, and the main floor footprint was also extended to create dining space cantilevered toward the lake. Expansive Loewen structural windows bring in natural light and frame uninterrupted views, reinforcing a strong connection to the outdoors.
Material choices were made to honor and harmonize with the natural surroundings—warm woods, dynamic stones, and reflective glass enhance both the interior and exterior, helping to capture the spirit of the land and lake. This beautiful example of lakeside luxury won interior design firm JAQUE first place in the 2025 Midwest Design Awards Lakeside Home category.
