Housing First Minnesota’s latest survey has once again crowned Lennar as the Twin Cities’ top homebuilder for 2024. The company has maintained its position at the forefront of the industry since 2006, continuing its nearly two-decade reign. Rankings are determined based on annual gross revenue reported by respondents for for-sale housing.
The collective impact of the region’s Top 25 Builders in 2024 was significant, contributing a total of $3.6 billion in revenue and delivering 6,580 new housing units. This included 4,933 single-family homes and 1,647 townhomes or multifamily units. Lennar led the pack, reporting $1,023,106,199 in gross revenue and closing on 2,191 homes—comprising 1,383 single-family homes and 808 multifamily units.
“We have an incredible group of builders in the Twin Cities who are building and shaping the places we call home,” says James Vagle, CEO of Housing First Minnesota, in a prepared statement. “Their dedication to building safe, long-lasting homes is making homeownership possible for more Minnesotans.”
Lennar’s Division President, Bill Burgess, expressed the company’s dedication to homeownership accessibility. “At Lennar, we are committed to making homeownership a reality for all Minnesota families. Our focus has been building great homes in the neighborhoods and school districts that are important for Minnesota families,” he says. “We are proud that every year, for the past 19 years, more Minnesota families put their trust in Lennar to help them make their dream of owning a new home become reality.”
Following Lennar in the top rankings were DR Horton Inc. – Minnesota, which reported over $449 million in revenue with 893 housing units closed, and M/I Homes with over $379 million in revenue and 778 units sold. Other high-performing builders included Pulte Homes of Minnesota LLC ($358 million, 651 units), Robert Thomas Homes Inc. ($166 million, 233 units), Capstone Homes Inc. ($160 million, 366 units), Hanson Builders Inc. ($152 million, 136 units), Gonyea Homes Inc. ($129 million, 162 units), Creative Homes Inc.
